As I research further back into the parish records, the name McIntyre becomes corrupted into MacIntyre; but following up records leave me in no doubt that this is the same family-line and so I have kept the modern day spelling constant throughout..
McIntyre or MacIntyre, McInteer, McEntire, McAteer............
Comes from the Gaelic name, Mac an tSaoir. Which translated means ‘the son of a mason or carpenter’.
