Welcome.

This is the history of my maternal family tree beginning with myself, John Rainer, and going back from my mother, Doris Winifred Rainer nee McIntyre (pictured right), to as far as I can trace. I have included all the facts I have found so far, together with certificates and photographs of my ancestors. Please enjoy the web site and let me know if you find any errors or can add new information.

People and Places.

I was born in Abingdon on Thames, now in South Oxfordshire, the town was originally in Berkshire before local government reorganization back in 1974. My mother, Doris Winifred McIntyre was born and lived in Abingdon. Her mother, Norah Smith (pictured bottom left) comes from the village of Sutton Courtenay, just south of Abingdon. Other names on my mothers side that are prominent in my Tree are Whitehead, these also originate from Sutton Courtenay, and also Beckingham who come from the village of Blewbury, near Didcot.
